2025 Individual Interior Built Work, Hancock Park, Los Angeles
Located between LA's Koreatown and Hancock Park, Wilton House is a compact, affordable modern loft designed and furnished by the owner, architect and artist Daria Yang Du. Completed in 2025, this is her first fully realized built interior project—serving both as a personal living space and a creative studio.
The double-height unit features abundant natural light, warm wood floors, and a restrained palette of white surfaces and natural textures. Drawing inspiration from Scandinavian simplicity, the design integrates budget-conscious choices with thoughtful spatial composition.
Nearly all furnishings were sourced from IKEA, Wayfair, and TJ Maxx, with a total interior cost of under $1,500. A key feature is the oversized work desk: constructed with IKEA legs and a custom-cut tabletop from Home Depot, tailored to the creative needs of the occupant.
This project is a case study in accessible, self-initiated interior design for solo female living—demonstrating how design can be both personal and practical without compromising aesthetics.
